1,Science together (3:00pm to 4:00pm) at the Sciencenter

– stories and hands-on activities for toddlers. Engage with your toddlers and preschoolers as you investigate how to make observations through stories and self-guided, hands-on activities. Learn a different science process each week and discover ways to keep the science fun going at home.

2,Open House Nights (8:00pm-10:00pm) at Fuertes Observatory

 

3, Game Night (7pm to 11pm) @ Ithaca Generator, 116 W Green St, Ithaca,

-Autumn is here! No it isn’t! Yes it is?Come down to Ithaca Generator for game night, this Friday The Thirteenth starting at 7 and going until we drop, which is typically between 10 and midnight.We have a variety of scary-fun table-top games, including Betrayal at House on the Hill, Pandemic, The Resistance, Forbidden Island, Miskatonic School for Girls, Dominion, and more! Bring your own and we may try it!

 

4, Puppy Chow Sale (1pm-4pm) @ Ho Plaza, Ithaca

-Show your support for Cornell Engineers Without Borders by stopping by Ho Plaza and picking up some Puppy Chow! $3 per bag. All proceeds go to our current and future international projects.

 

5, Harvest Moon Dance (6:30 to 8:30pm) @ Ithaca College – Emerson Suites, Ithaca

-We look forward to this event every year. All free and sponsered by Ithaca College. Come dance and enjoy free parking, food and beverages (including cake !) The Harvest Moon Dance is an annual intergenerational event where local seniors meet and interact with members of the Ithaca College Community.

Fall is one of the most magical times in the Garden! Enjoy an afternoon at ICG celebrating scarecrows and everything autumn. Performance by LilySilly Puppet Theatre at 1:30pm, and 6 Mile Creek Boys perform from 2:00-4:00.We have all the supplies you’ll need to build a scarecrow and friendly volunteers to lend a hand. Hands-on harvest activities for all ages. Pumpkins available for sale. Carving station will be available. Leave your goop with us! Puppet making with LilySilly will also take place from 2:30-4:00.Bring some pocket money for treats, snacks, and pumpkins. This family friendly event is a seasonal favorite, open to all. – affordable kids movies at Cornell Cinema. $5 adults/$4 kids 12 & youngerThis semi-annual festival features high quality children’s programs on Saturdays at 2pm in the beautiful Willard Straight Theatre. 8, October Vegan Potluck (1:30pm to 3:30pm) @ Uris Hall G26
-Please joins us for a delicious potluck and bring your favorite vegan dish or treat! Poltucks are an integral event to meet other Cornellians and really make yourself a part of the community. We’ll also be having a short discussion/presentation about how veganism intersects with human rights! Maybe you’ve gotten questions about vegans only caring for animals or people not being interested in veganism because it only helps animals- well, now you’ll know how to debunk those myths!!

-A showcase of Howl Studio musicians and artists and a celebration of the fall harvest and sustainability. This a block party to include Regional Access, Stick and Stone Farm, Renovus Solar, Indian Creek Farm and the Namaste Montessori School, local businesses that share our neck of the woods and a desire to better the world. We will have great musical performers, a fire and hand drumming, an art gallery, a late night DJ and great food provided by The Piggery.We need your involvement. Please get involved and let us know what you can offer. We need parking assistants and lots of help with promo among other things. This is our event!FREE but donations appreciated.

11, 2nd Annual SPA Night: Mental Health Awareness Week (8pm to 11pm) @ Willard Straight Hall, 136 Ho Plaza, Ithaca
-Stressed from prelim season? Want a chance to relax and enjoy yourself with friends? Come to the 2nd Annual Spa Night at Willard Straight Hall to kickoff Mental Health Awareness Week. Enjoy live entertainment from some of Cornell’s finest performance groups, get a free professional massage and partake in de-stressing activities such as bamboo planting, yoga and DIY manicuring and henna. On top of this event, enjoy WSH popcorn or indulge yourself in free pizza, wings, fruits and veggies, ice cream from Cornell Dairy or Insomnia Cookies. This stress-free night is FREE to the Cornell Community and starts at 8pm and ends at 11pm. Bring a blanket and pillow for seating for entertainment or your own mat for yoga, although extra yoga mats and blankets will be provided if needed.

1, LFU at IFM (10am to 2pm) @ Ithaca Farmers Market, Steamboat Landing, ithaca.

-Next gig. Next Sunday 10/15. At Ithaca Farmers Market. 10-2. The Local Farmers Union returns to Steamboat Landing to sing all (some) of your favorite (not that good but catchy) songs about veggies. Come buy some Kale, sing about Kale, and then go home and Eat Some Kale!

 

2, Ithaca Childbearing Loss Memorial Service and Luminary Walk (5:30 to 7:30pm) @ Ithaca Children’s Garden, 121 Turtle Lane, Ithaca

-Ithaca Childbearing Loss Network is hosting our annual Childbearing Loss Memorial Service and Luminary Walk.This event is for bereaved families, their loved ones, and community members whose lives have been touched by childbearing loss.

October 15th, 2017

3, WRFI Seize The Day: A Daytime Dance Party (1pm to 4pm) @ Greater Ithaca Activities Center, 301 W Court St, Ithaca

-JOIN US this Sunday in the Greater Ithaca Activities Center gymnasium, for our first official ‘Seize The Day’ community dance party. Everyone is invited! There will be complimentary light refreshments, bubble machines, and fun activities for all. Oh, and we forgot to mention, dancing! Groovy, funky, disco dance music brought to you by Dj Midwife and Dj Cub (of the WRFI radio shows The Magic Womb & Eclectic Boogaloo). We know, everyone’s busy and the world can be a very tough place–we just wanted to have a postive time and dance with our community in a judgement-free space thats fun, light-hearted and will leave you feeling great.

This event is alcohol-free, but, BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby). Kids of all ages are invited!

$5 suggested donation and kids with guardian get in free. Donations are much appreciated, and will go toward funding WRFI Community Radio and future WRFI Seize the Day dance events.

-Spicmacay Cornell Chapter is proud to invite the Cornell and Ithaca community, family and friends to our Fall Concert. We have planned an exquisite evening of “Natyanjali”- a Bharatanatyam Dance duet. This semester we are hosting one of the most sought dancing couples in India – Renjith & Vijna.

As always, the event is FREE and open to all.

7, Compost Workshop (2pm to 5pm) @ Dilmun Hill Student Organic Farm, 705 Dryden Rd (Rt366) Ithaca

– Dilmun Hill Student Farm and special guest Jean Bohontal, will be hosting a composting workshop this Sunday! We will be learning techniques for both small scale home and large scale farm composting, while preparing the farm for winter.

This event is free and open to the public.

8, Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers Present Fall Concert (3pm to 4pm) @ First Presbyterian Church Ithaca, 315 N Cayuga St.
-The Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers (DCJS) will present “An Afternoon of Negro Spirituals and African-American Sacred Music,” Sunday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 315 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca. The concert will include favorites from DCJS’s recent Mother’s Day (May 14) performance at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and a wide selection of new material.
9, Danby Harvest Festival  (2pm to 5pm ) @ Danby Community Park Association, 1825 Danby Rd, Ithaca
-Join us for our 5th annual Harvest Fest. Let’s celebrate the rural charm and character of our community and enjoy the autumn glory of beautiful Dotson Park in the company of friends and neighbors. This year the Cayuga Nature Center will be on hand from 2:30-3:30 pm. Our trebuchet will be on hand to toss basketball sized missiles you bring. This year we are hosting the “Great Pumpkin Weigh-In,” and we will determine the winners of this local growing contest. We’ll have some select local vendors sharing their locally grown and produced goods. We’ll have a bonfire with hot dogs and marshmallows to roast (vegan options, too). Try our our collection of hand-powered tools. Danby’s youth program manager Melis Schildkraut will be on hand to lead games for the kids. Returning for an encore performance are Uncle Joe & the Rosebud Ramblers offering up traditional and old time tunes. As always, this event is free and open to the public. Donations accepted. Sponsored by the Danby Community Council with support from United Way of Tompkins County. See you there!
